University is a great time for discoveries: from new friends to new lovers, many movies have pictures the fascinating romantic habits that can appear during university times.

Some couple met at university and stayed together in a healthy, long-term relationship, whereas for other singles, university was the perfect time to get experienced in the art of loving.

College Romance: Traditional Dating versus Casual Dating

More or less 70% of university students have had a hookup experience. College is indeed one of the best times to meet singles and start the dating adventure!

However, if we take a closer look at gender preferences, it seems that 63% of male students prefer to be in a serious relationship and 83% of female students prefer a long-term commitment.

It seems that despite the great advantages of casual dating, a majority of students are looking for a meaningful relationship.

Not strange when people claim that it is during university times when true friendships will be created. A time during which 63% of females hope to meet their future partner in college.

 

Online dating in college

Online dating has managed to conquer many territories, the university included.

According to our infographic, 79% of students prefer to meet singles through mutual friends, but the online dating word seems to be starting to get quite popular as well with 41% of student knowing someone who has met their partner through a dating site and 4% expect to meet potential dates through a dating app.

Among the most popular apps, Tinder is the clear winner. with 84.4% of fans among university students, followed by Bumble, OkCupid and Coffee meets Bagel.

The Hook-up Culture in College

Do university men and women have different a different vision about casual dating?

50% of male students feel quite positive towards casual dating, with a mere 26% of regret after hooking-up.

On the feminine side, things seem to be rather the contrary: only 26% of female students feel positive towards hooking-up with a 49% of regret the day after.
